Veterans day at Brighton

August, 2008

The Brighton annual Veterans Day was held this year on 27 June behind the Brighton Pavilion with all branches of our forces and the civilian emergency services represented. The morning’s entertainment was supplied by the Salvation Army Band and the afternoon saw the events stage taken over by the Brighton Drum Band. Our volunteers were busy all day on our stall answering questions and “selling” the Museum to the folks of Brighton. Brighton, of course has a close connection with Tangmere’s No 1 Squadron, the squadron being adopted by the Borough of Brighton in 1937.

However, it was not all work for our volunteers as can be seen from the photograph showing Ian Mackinnon, who organised our presence, with two ladies from Brighton City Council! A useful day and thanks to our volunteers who attended.

Talks by Tangmere

The Museum is pleased to be able to offer speakers to interested groups or societies on a range of subjects connected with the history of operations at RAF Tangmere and other military aviation subjects.

The presentations are usually given as an audio/visual presentation using the Museum's equipment. Our presentations can be tailored to suit audiences ranging from specialist societies to community based groups and range in length from 40 to 90 minutes depending on the subject matter.

Further details of the full range of presentations and the availability of speakers can be obtained by calling the museum on 01243 790090, by emailing your interest to director@tangmere-museum.org.uk or by letter marked for the attention of the Director.
