‘Tangmere’ Locomotive Plate Exhibition Opens

May, 2018

On 3 May the ‘Tangmere Locomotive Plate’ exhibition was officially opened by Barry Eden, the donor of the plates.

David Coxon, the Museum’s Deputy Director, introduced Barry and thanked him for his generous donation. Barry, in his response, informed those present of how he managed to purchase the original plates of this Battle of Britain Class locomotive from the RAF Museum and how pleased he was that they are now back at Tangmere where they belong; they were placed in the RAF Officer’s Mess after the locomotive was scrapped until the Station closed in 1970.

Following the opening, Barry was introduced to Bob Goodrick, Head of the Engineering Project Team, who had built the exhibition.
