A new film about Hugh Verity, one of the pilots who flew SOE agents into and out of France on operations during WW2 is being prepared and will be shown in the SOE section of the museum shortly. It features Hugh’s life in the RAF, focussing mainly on his time as a ‘black Lysander’ pilot, and was prepared with the assistance of his widow, Audrey Verity, as well as the IWM . Many of these secret flights to French fields commenced from Tangmere during the moon period (one week before and one week after full moon) each month since it allowed maximum range for the Lysander aircraft heading South into France.
The Tangmere Museum has 3 computer-controlled Flight Simulators for visitors to ‘fly’.
