The Museum’s Peter Wright Memorial Library was re-dedicated on 13 September in recognition of all the hard work undertaken this year following the decision to refurbish the room and re-categorise the 4,600 books. This work, managed by the Museum’s Archivist Dr Reg Byron, involved the Museum’s librarian Valerie Cuthbert and researcher Ian Bell who sorted the books into new categories, labelled them and then input the details into a new database designed by Mike Heavens, Deputy Curator, Collection Management.
A plaque was also unveiled to remember Alan Mason who sadly died earlier in the year. Alan was a volunteer at the Museum for many years and designed the original collection database for the Museum. The photographs include one of the Museum’s Director, Alan Bower, and Valerie Mason (Alan’s widow) unveiling the new plaque.
