Ex-Spitfire Pilot Airborne Once More

August, 2017

On the 27th June Wing Commander Owen Hardy DFC and bar, AFC, former No 72 Sqn Second World War Spitfire pilot, visited the Museum to witness the flypast of 4 Tucano training aircraft celebrating the Squadron’s centenary

Following the flypast, Owen was invited to renew his acquaintance with a Spitfire as a guest of the Boultbee Flight Academy at Goodwood aerodrome.

On the 7th August thanks to the generosity of Matt Jones, the Boultbee Flight Academy Managing Director, Owen took to the air once more with Matt in the Boultbee two-seat Spitfire TR 9.
