On a glorious, hot summer’s day afternoon on Sunday 10 July, 17 members of the Chichester BIg Band played a concert on the Museum’s lawn as part of the Museum’s celebrations to mark two important platinum anniversaries, the Queen’s Jubilee and 40 years since the Museum opened in 1982.
The music they played to an audience of more than 70 over a three hour period included Second World War favourites such as those made famous by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra, an American swing dance band formed in 1938.
The music was extremely well received by the audience, many of whom took the opportunity to visit the Museum and the Cockpit Café.
