Armistice Day Service

November, 2017

The weather at Tangmere on the morning of Saturday 11 November 2017 was light rain and the decision was made to hold the Museum’s annual Armistice Day Remembrance Service under cover in the Merston Hall.

The service was attended by many members and friends of the Museum with Father Derek Humphrey once again conducting the proceedings. Also present was a large group of visiting engineering undergraduates from Southampton University who are sponsored by the Ministry of Defence and form the Thunderer Squadron of the Defence Academy of the UK.

Music, including an excellent rendition of the ‘Last Post’, was again provided by the Worthing Silver Band. The Museum’s Chairman, Group Captain David Baron OBE, read the citation.

After the service ended the wreaths were taken out and laid in the Museum’s Memorial Garden.
