Close family and friends of former No 1 (F) Squadron ‘B’ flight commander Flight Lieutenant (later Group Captain) ‘Freddie’ Pickard gathered together at the beginning of the month to raise a glass in memory of him following his death on 11 November last year. Freddie flew the Museum’s Hawker Hunter F5 WP190 during its time at RAF Tangmere and on the Suez operation in 1956.
The photograph shows Lindsay Pickard, Freddie’s daughter, with Raymond Hansed, donator of WP190 to the Museum (right) and Freddie’s great friend and squadron colleague, Harry Irving.
