Tuesday September 11th was a very special day for the Museum – and for Percy Geere, for that was the date of Percy’s 100th birthday and his birthday surprise was a visit to the Museum organised by his family. Percy, who lives in Haywards Heath, came with his son, daughter in law, nephew and wife and his great granddaughter, and was delighted to be among aircraft and artefacts that reminded him of his war years. He told us a little about his wartime service in Egypt where he was with 26 AACU and we were all impressed by his clear recollections of those exciting days. The group spent a long time looking at the many displays on offer in the various Halls in the Museum and enjoyed a special Birthday Cake in the Museum café before leaving in the afternoon.
Our picture shows Percy standing by the Dedication plaque near to the Museum entrance.
