Hawker-Siddeley Harrier GR3

Tangmere’s Harrier GR3, XV744, was built as a GR1 and took part in the Daily Mail Transatlantic Air Race in May 1969.  It later served with No 1 Squadron and No 233 Harrier Operational Conversion Unit at RAF Wittering where it was rebuilt to GR3 standard.

The aircraft’s last MOD location was at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Shrivenham, Wiltshire.   XV744 was purchased and presented as a gift to Tangmere Military Aviation Museum by its Society of Friends in March 2013.

Talks by Tangmere

The Museum is pleased to be able to offer speakers to interested groups or societies on a range of subjects connected with the history of operations at RAF Tangmere and other military aviation subjects.

The presentations are usually given as an audio/visual presentation using the Museum's equipment. Our presentations can be tailored to suit audiences ranging from specialist societies to community based groups and range in length from 40 to 90 minutes depending on the subject matter.
