Family Day 2020 – All Day Family Fun

January, 2020

Come and have family fun with an aviation theme!
Bring your family to the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum’s ‘Family Day’ on Sunday 2 August between 1000 and 1700 hours – fun for the whole family all day with both indoor and outdoor children’s activities. The indoor activities include designing and colouring squadron badges, making paper aeroplanes, learning and using the Morse Code and Phonetic Alphabet and dressing up as a pilot.

It is hoped that present on the day will be a West Sussex fire engine (subject to operational requirements) for the children to explore and drill demonstrations by Chichester’s Air Training Corps Cadets. Outside, in addition to other interesting stalls there will be a mini train to ride on. New this year will be short talks with clips from films about daring pilots and their aircraft.

Try your skills at flying our simulators including for the adults our ever popular Lightning fast jet. Come and see the Museum’s temporary exhibition on Tangmere’s important role in the Battle of Britain 80 years ago. Enter a competition and try your hand at dropping bombs on a target from a radio controlled Lancaster model. Subject to weather our outside aircraft cockpits including the famous Harrier jump–jet will be open.

When you need a refreshment break, look no further that our NAAFI tea-room, beer tent and burger bar. Relax and listen to the music of the 40s and 50s from Angel Radio’s Pete Cross.

Children come and join in with ‘Make-it and Take-it’ – making your own Airfix model aircraft to take away. Put your mobile phones away – it’s creative, fun and FREE! With easy access, free parking – all you need to do is come and enjoy the day! We look forward to seeing you.

Special reduced rates for Family Day of £8 for adults, this year accompanied children come free.
