Coming to Tangmere Military Aviation Museum on Sunday 10 July is the Chichester Big Band. Visitors to the Museum will see the band showcasing its talents at a joint concert for both the Platinum Jubilee and the Museum’s 40th Anniversary
The group of talented musicians were brought together by Beverly Cerexhe-Dickens. Beverley had been playing in a Concert Band and was looking for something different. With no Big Band in the city, she set out to build one. Beverley said “My mother always said, if you can’t find one, make one. So that is what I did.”
The band has some 16 members and have been busy right through the Platinum commemorations. Steve, who is Beverley’s partner, and began on the Tenor Sax, is now its musical director and band leader.
The Museum has been promised a selection of Glenn Miller, Sammy Nestico, Count Basie and Duke Ellington and it should help the day go with a real swing! The Big Band will be out on the lawn, weather permitting
