Education Department Moves Forward
Since the Museum reopened in February 2006 our Education Department has had a busy and successful nine months. Early in the year, David Coxon was appointed Education Officer and, with Pete Pitman, a recent recruit to the Department, has implemented our plans to improve the service we provide for school visits and to enhance the Museum’s Education facilities.
Since February, the Museum has hosted 33 school visits, mainly from primary schools within Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey. We are keen to attract secondary schools and will be working towards this objective next year. We are also keen to ensure that school children on a visit are kept interested and learn by participating.
In order to assist teachers, the Education Department has produced a number of illustrated School Information Sheets on such topics as ‘The Home Front‘, ‘The SOE and Tangmere’ and ‘Aerial Warfare in WW1‘. The complete list of topics is shown under ‘Education‘ on this website and the information sheets are available free of charge from the Museum’s Education Department.
