Aircraft Exhibits
The Museum has some excellent aircraft and powerplant exhibits including the World Speed Record breaking
Gloster Meteor F.4 Special (flown by Group. Captain E.M. 'Teddy' Donaldson in 1946) and Hawker Hunter Mk3
(flown in 1953 by the Museum's late President Neville Duke). Both these aircraft are on loan from the RAF to the Museum.
Situated in the Merston Hall is a tribute to R.J. Mitchell, the designer of the Spitfire, with an excellent replica
of the prototype Spitfire that first flew in 1936.
The Lightning aircraft and the Hawker Hunter F.5 aircraft (splendidly exhibited in Tangmere's No.1 Squadron's colours)
were donated to the Museum by Raymond and Meryl Hansed and are located in the Meryl Hansed Memorial Hall.
